Sourcing Majestic Coffees, Huila, Colombia – Quality, Excellence & Traceability

Royalty Specialty Coffees is thrilled to announce a new origin collaboration with Majestic Coffees, a renowned group of farms located in the Vereda Santa Rita, Municipality of Aipe, Huila, Colombia.

This strategic partnership is set to bring sustainable sourcing, unparalleled estate-level traceability, and microlot excellence directly to roasters in the United Kingdom, the European Union, and the United States, further strengthening our commitment to the Direct Trade model.

Colombia’s masterclass terroir – Santa Rita, Huila

Huila is one of Colombia’s most renowned coffee-growing regions, situated within the Andes mountains. Its high altitude, volcanic soil, and ideal microclimates promote slow bean maturation, resulting in high density and concentrated sugars. Production is largely artisanal, managed by small farmers who predominantly use the washed (fully-washed) processing method.

The flavor profile of Huila coffee is globally recognized for its balance, clarity, and vibrant acidity. Typical flavors include citrus notes (lemon, orange), red fruits, and an underlying sweetness of caramel or brown sugar. The result is a floral beverage with a medium body and a lingering sweetness, setting a quality benchmark for Colombian specialty coffee.

About Majestic Coffees: A Commitment to Equity

Majestic Coffees is more than just a coffee exporter; it’s a company founded on the principle of correcting imbalances within the coffee supply chain. Their journey began 15 years ago in Huila, where co-founders Juan and Fernando witnessed firsthand the stark poverty experienced by countless coffee-growing families. This realization sparked a mission to create a truly sustainable model that benefits everyone involved.

At the heart of Majestic Coffees is a belief in sustainable business—not just environmentally, but socially and economically. They work hand-in-hand with their coffee-growing partners, providing advice on harvesting and processing to enhance bean quality using eco-friendly systems. This commitment ensures that their coffees are truly “majestic,” appealing to buyers and roasters who seek both exceptional taste and ethical sourcing.

Majestic Coffees’ dedication to fairness goes beyond pricing. The company actively supports women and young coffee farmers through initiatives focused on education, international internships, and structural improvements to their homes. By investing in these key areas, they are fostering the next generation of quality producers and helping to secure the industry’s future.

Ultimately, Majestic Coffees is dedicated to exporting specialty coffees produced sustainably, making them a crucial link for international buyers who want to partner with a company that believes in a balanced and equitable ecosystem. They stand as a testament to the idea that passion for coffee and commitment to social change can, and should, go together.

Meet the Producers: Alexander Olaya, Finca El Bosque

One of the most representative producers from the Majestic Coffees collective is Alexander Olaya of “Finca El Bosque.” Alexander, a second-generation producer and regional leader in northern Huila, embodies the dramatic transformation taking place in specialty coffee farming. His family successfully overcame past hardships—including low prices and arduous manual labor—thanks to his parents’ resilience. Today, with improved tools and market conditions, farming is more profitable. Alexander, poised to be the fourth-generation producer, proudly continues this legacy of resilience and prosperity.

Sustainability and Processing Excellence

Alexander practices stringent sustainable production, consciously avoiding the use of pesticides and conventional fertilizers. He further ensures environmental cleanliness by treating all processing water with mucilage before its release. Alexander’s washed coffees follow a meticulous journey: selective manual picking of only ripe cherries, dry pulping, controlled aerobic fermentation in lined concrete tanks, thorough washing, and careful drying in a marquesina (covered drying house). Each deliberate step ensures a clean, vibrant, and expressive cup profile.
